The Christian Church Conference Center
Welcoming groups and families to Bethany Beach since 1901.
Meet The Directors

Rev. John Callaway is the Co-Pastor of Christian Temple Church in Catonsville, Maryland. Having served in multiple churches and camps working alongside children and youth, John is excited to experience Camp at Bethany Beach for the first time. John will be accompanied by his 5-year-old daughter, Sophie, this summer. Exploring play and the pedagogy of Mr. Rogers will be central in John's doctor of ministry project.

Bob and wife Mary share in directing Family Camp I. Bob is a native of the Washington D.C. area having grown up in Mt. Rainier an Oxon Hill Maryland, graduating from the University of Maryland and completing his Doctorate in Ministry at Lexington Theological Seminary. He has directed CCCA Camps in Backpacking, CYF and Family Camp for many years. Mary grew up in a military family and grew up all over the world but after a lifetime of living in Maryland calls Maryland her home as well. They have been married over 55 years, have 3 grown children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. They strive to create a Family Camp that is warm, welcoming, fun, and spiritually enriching.

Hi! My name is Teresa Swihart, most of the kids call me Miss Teresa. I started going to events at the conference center in Bethany Beach long before I learned to walk. Since then, I've done tons of camps as a camper/attendee and as a staff person even living at camp for 28 summers! We have a great staff busy planning for Junior Camp (JYF) and we'd love for you to attend. Feel free to sign up a friend too!

When I'm not at camp I am a special education teacher in a public school, spend many hours watching my Junior Camper ice skate, and enjoy participating in outdoor activities!

Hi! I am Beth Hindsley. I have been involved in the Camp & Conference program for over 30 years in the Capital Region. I have been a counselor and director for a number of years. I am a high school assistant principal when I am not at camp. I love teaching and working with all ages at the camp program. I look forward to seeing you at my camp.

Kay Slonaker first attended Family Camp at Bethany Beach as a child with her parents and siblings. As a
parent, it was a wonderful multigenerational vacation with her children, their grandparents and aunt.
She served on staff, providing crafts for all ages or working with children or youth. As a grandparent, she
has directed for 5 years. Family Camp is designed as an intergenerational experience both for Christian
Education and family vacation. While morning program allows the camp community to bond through music, Bible study, crafts and games; free afternoons provide time for family activities. The program day
ends with vespers after dinner, but opportunities to connect with other campers continue to be
available in the evening. We have welcomed babies at 6 weeks and adults in their 80s. No one is too
young or old to attend.
